Nelson Layos sent us this story of growth here in SoCal, and we just have to share: "Peter Cruz’s career in Occupational Therapy (OT) and journey with Ensign began in 2001 when he joined Southland Care Center as a newly grad staff OT. Over the years, he demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication, leading to his promotion as the Director of Rehabilitation (DOR) at The Orchard Post Acute Care (formerly known as Royal Court Rehabilitation Center) from 2002. However, Peter’s path took an interesting turn in 2007 when he left the company. His absence was short-lived, though, as he returned in 2010, this time as the DOR at Southland Care Center. His leadership skills shone brightly as he navigated challenges and ensured optimal patient care. In 2016, Peter embraced a new opportunity by transferring to Mission Care Center as the DOR. His strategic vision and ability to motivate teams contributed significantly to the center’s success. Peter exemplified the core values of CAPLICO in his daily interactions while fostering a positive work environment. Today, Peter Cruz holds a pivotal role at Ramona Nursing and Rehab Center. His dedication, adaptability, and commitment to excellence continue to make a lasting impact. As he leads the rehabilitation team and newly formed department leadership, Peter remains a beacon of inspiration for those around him. On our first day in Washington, we visited the Oaks at Lakewood and heard nothing but incredible stories and gorgeous greenery ahead. We first spoke with Rhonda Arcane, about the partnership between Nursing and Therapy. She proudly spoke of the successful collaboration and said: “Above all, nursing and therapy have to collaborate on a daily basis to make sure that the residents are getting the basic care that they need. Nursing communicates with therapy on changing conditions, and Therapy is really good at noticing if something is off with a patient's mobility, or response to treatment. This allows us to go in and check to make sure that all of our bases are covered. We really have to work closely together for clinical success, and we that’s something we do well here at Oaks.” ?? #FlagshipTherapy
