Roper Hall, the new medical education building on the University of North Carolina's Chapel Hill campus, creates a vibrant central hub for medical students. Recognizing that the School of Medicine class size is projected to grow by 25 percent, Flad's design, in collaboration with SLAM, focuses on establishing a dedicated place where the student community not only comes to learn, but stays to study, gather, and socialize together – experiencing it as a home away from home with opportunities to make meaningful connections and build relationships.
