Eyes on the left engine ! Powered by PW4060 engines, an United Airlines Boeing B767-322ER aircraft (N665UA) returned back to London Heathrow Airport (LHR) after declaring an emergency, 90 minutes after departure from LHR. The United Airlines flight UA147 to New York (EWR) departed from Runway 27R at 15:10 GMT earlier Today, but it stopped climbing at only 18,350ft to perform a turn around. Pending an official statement from the carrier, the emergency squawk 7700 appeared to be related to a problem with the Number 1 engine during flight. An An-12 cargo aircraft flew into a snowdrift after landing at Novy Urengoy airport in the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug of Russia. The Atran aircraft (RA-11371) was flying from Sabetta, and during landing its left landing gear got damaged, causing it to lose control ending up in a snowdrift. The incident occurred at 11:14 Moscow time. The left landing gear failed to lock, and the aircraft rolled over during landing. Novy Urengoy Airport is temporarily closed following the runway excursion of an An-12. #aircraft

A pilot & his 2 daughters have been rescued from a Piper PA-12 Super Cruiser, missing since Sunday, near the east side of frozen Tustumena Lake on Monday. Spotted by a Samaritan aircraft, the Alaska Army National Guard saved them at 10:30 a.m. An Alaska Army National Guard Blackhawk with extended range, a hoist and a flight medic, part of the 207th Aviation Troop Command, went out to where the wreckage was spotted and found three people on the wing of the PA-12, which had seemingly crushed the surface of a frozen body of water, and was partially submerged. They have been hospitalized with minor injuries after hitting soft ice. #rescue #hospital

Highlights! Are we going to see an "Open Fan architecture Engine" aircraft from Airbus in the Future? What are the technology Airbus aims to utilize to design its next generation single-aisle aircraft? Propulsion: - Airbus wants to use more efficient engines, those will include disruptive open fan designs. - Open Fan architecture is a new design of jet engines that removes the traditional casing, allowing for a larger fan size with less drag to improve fuel efficiency. Aerodynamics: - Airbus will use long foldable wings allowing for significant aerodynamic gains. Folding Wings?offer a solution by enabling higher aspect ratios during cruise while being folded to meet the size constraints for ground maneuvers. Hybridization: - Airbus also want to use Next-generation batteries to enable hybrid architectures where electricity is increasingly used to support propulsive and non-propulsive functions aboard the aircraft. - These batteries could be used to power the aircraft while taxiing on the ground, as well as during flight for onboard functions like the air conditioning system or lighting. Aircraft Materials: -Advanced Lightweight materials for fuselage/wing manufacturing will not only help weight saving, but it will also expedite the manufacturing process. -Using carbon fibre-reinforced thermoplastic polymer composites (CFRTP) instead of CFRP, the demonstrator achieved its weight-saving target at a neutral cost and also proved greater manufacturing efficiency that would enable a build rate of up to 100 units per month. Fuel Efficiency: - Airbus expects the entry into service of its next-generation single-aisle aircraft with an expected 20-30% increase in fuel efficiency compared with the current generation, as well as the?capability to fly with up to 100% sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). An integrated systems for a connected aircraft: - While fly-by-wire is now the industry standard, it is not the end of the road. Airbus is designing a common digital platform for a future next-generation single aisle, which will ensure safer and more efficient operations. - These future systems will be highly connected and automated, powered by advanced computer platforms. These will permit automatic installation, updates and modifications of system applications, allowing for immediate improvements to enhance performance. Artificial Intelligence: - An increased processing speeds supported by AI will increase the amount of data that can be securely processed. - This will facilitate predictive maintenance and enhance passenger experience through the availability of real-time information. Aviation Safety: - As per Airbus, Safety will be strengthened through increasingly automatic assistance technologies for pilots, helping them navigate complex operations with greater precision. - This automatic assistance will also be expanded outside the cockpit, to ground operations and maintenance. Summary: Tanmay Palei ??: Airbus #aviation #nextgen
