Nate's journey is a testament to resilience and the value of consistent medical care. At 30 years old living in Ghana, Africa, he won the lottery. He was selected in the U.S. Diversity Immigrant Visa lottery, leading him to leave his family to come to the United States. Despite initial success in his new life, Nate struggled with alcohol dependency. This led to a severe alcohol-induced seizure, multiple surgeries, and a stay in a nursing home. His turning point came when he found Five Rivers Health Centers. With access to consistent medical care, Nate began the process of rebuilding his life. Today, he is four years sober, thriving in a full-time job, and living independently. Reflecting on his journey, he says, "I've learned more than enough lessons now. I appreciate the qualified, competent and concerned people I've met at Five Rivers and the Samaritan. Some people feel it's tough here, but I'm still very happy here. It's a blessing to be here."
