Yesterday, a ribbon-cutting and dedication ceremony of the new “West Wing” building at the Steven J. Green School of International & Public Affairs was held – the realization of a longtime vision. Ambassador Green, center, is seen cutting the ribbon. The event was enshrined in the U.S. Congressional Record by Congressman Carlos Gimenez, seen with Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, members of the Green family, FIU President Kenneth A. Jessell and Green School Dean Shlomi Dinar. Ambassador Green was honored as the first recipient of the Green School Medallion for his transformative impact on the school and our world.

Daniel I. Pedreira, adjunct professor of Politics and International Relations, told Newsweek that U.S. Senator Marco Rubio, who has been nominated by President-Elect Donald Trump to be his secretary of state, will likely "continue his vocal criticism of the Cuban regime and will support Cuba's democratic opposition movement." The Green School is a key university partner in the Academic Centers of Conflict Anticipation and Prevention (ACCAP) and its upcoming conference on Nov. 18-19, in Washington, D.C. The ACCAP brings together leading experts and scholars to explore how to anticipate and prevent conflict. A joint initiative by the U.S. Department of State with university partners, initiatives to be discussed will include the Global Fragility Act, prioritization of the Women, Peace and Security framework in conflict-affected areas, and the intersection of climate and conflict.
