Exciting moments happened this week for CARTA! Let's recap!?? This morning, Martin Baron was awarded the CARTA Medallion! This medallion, supported by The Tonkinson Foundation, was established to recognize outstanding professionals who have excelled at having an immediate and lasting impact in their respective fields. Baron has accomplished a fulfilling career in the world of journalism and is a true treasure! The ceremony hosted by Dean Brian Schriner brought students, faculty, staff, alumni together! Ramón Escobar, CARTA Advisory Board member and SVP at CNN Worldwide, accompanied Baron on stage while talking about the role of journalism and media in the current political landscape. Students who were in attendance were able to ask any questions to gain insight and advice from the professionals themselves. It was an exciting morning filled with laughs, guidance, and memories! FIU Architecture?Associate Professor Nicholas Gelpi partook in the design of The Underline Stage Canopy. This structure is part of Phase 1 of The Underline and sits in the "Brickell Backyard." The shade cloth opens and closes lively to mimic the butterflies from the site's planted garden. Tonight, CINDERELLA will be performed by the students of FIU Theatre alongside the music formulated by our FIU Music students held at The Wertheim Theatre. Be sure to get your tickets and enjoy the magnificent, creative, and unforgettable production that has been put together!
