This year’s Heart Day Symposium was better than ever! On Friday, Feb. 14, the Biomedical Engineering Department presented the eighth annual Heart Day Symposium at FIU. The event was an opportunity for students and faculty from around the country to have discussions on research and challenges being studied in cardiovascular medicine. ?? ?? Nija White, a Ph.D. student from the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), has received the FIU Dean’s Fellowship! In addition to this, Nija and Thelma del Cid, Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. student at the FIU MME Department and BME undergraduate alumna, received awards of $1,000 each from the Zonta Club of Miami Lakes Foundation, Inc. The foundation is a women-led organization committed to improving women's lives locally and globally through community service and fundraising efforts.
