Your bank account balance and profit & loss statement show you very different information. The bank account shows you in real-time your cash in and cash out. Basically, it tells you if you can pay your bills when they are due. Your P & L shows your revenue and expenses over a period of time. The P & L statement is the financial report that summarizes revenue, costs, and expenses incurred over a time period. It adds up your total revenue, then subtracts your total expenses, and gives you your net income. The thing is, this doesn't happen automatically. You'll have to assign every transaction an account (i.e., rent, insurance, advertising) so you can categorize your revenue and expenses.
