When it comes to structuring a workout, the sequence in which you perform your exercises can significantly impact your results. Particularly, the age-old question of whether to do cardio before or after strength training. Understanding Energy Systems Our bodies have a hierarchical system for utilizing energy sources during physical activity. Initially, for quick and high-intensity activities like weightlifting, the body taps into its carbohydrate reserves—stored as glycogen in muscles and the liver—for energy. This is because carbohydrates provide a rapid energy source that can be efficiently used during strength training. However, as these readily available carbohydrate stores start to deplete, the body begins to look for other energy sources, which is where fat stores come into play. When it comes to fitness goals, getting six-pack abs is often at the top of the list. But many people believe that you can’t target fat loss in specific areas. This is only partly true. While spot reduction on its own isn't the answer, you can influence where your body draws fat from by strategically engaging and warming up certain areas before your cardio session. Can You Target Fat Loss? The body’s fat-burning process is influenced by various factors, including blood flow and temperature. In a similar way, fat in your body becomes more accessible as energy when it's heated. By activating your core muscles before cardio, you're effectively increasing circulation 'heating up’ the fat in the abdominal area, making it easier for your body to use that fat as fuel during your workout. Yes! your body is that smart. The Cyclist Example: Continue reading - https://lnkd.in/gf3X6sQx

How I balanced my love for carbs with the need to combat the infamous "wheat belly."
