We are so thankful for the team at Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, who took time out of their busy days to do some heavy lifting for their island neighbors. It takes a village!

As we continue to stand with our community, we invite you to watch our special video highlighting a remarkable story from our neighbor – it’s a story of hope, perseverance, and the power of community. Together, we’ve shown incredible strength and resilience in rebuilding our community, but we also recognize that there is still much work to be done. The road to recovery has been long, filled with challenges, but also marked by countless acts of kindness, determination, and togetherness. #neighborshelpingneighbors? Thank you, Rogers Media Group, for bringing our story to life.
Kina S. with Quantum Fiber is here with water, donuts, reusable bags & bottles!
When the power is out, when the road is flooded, when the house is damaged—again—by storm surge, there’s not much comfort in the words, “It wasn’t as bad as Ian.” Hurricane Helene, which struck the Gulf Coast and our own island community this week, reminds us of the incredible power of nature. While the damage here pales compared to Big Bend and areas north, that doesn’t lessen the emotional toll of Helene on all of us. The pain of Ian is still fresh; for many, the recovery isn’t yet complete. Read more: https://conta.cc/47IjP6y

We feel honored to partner with Local Relief, Inc.; they are working hard to connect with nonprofits with experience in #DisasterRelief to hear their experiences to shape their app, which serves as 'a collaborative social media hub dedicated to a disaster where locals could always find relevant resources and information at their fingertips.'
HUGE Thank you to FISH OF SANCAP for an incredible meeting yesterday! If you've had the pleasure of working with Maria Espinoza and Manuela Martinez, you know their unparalleled work ethic. I also had the pleasure of meeting Emery Lowden who seems to have the same passion and drive for helping others as well. Truly an incredible team. So...I won't go into details yet...but we're doing something really cool together for the Local Relief, Inc. app! On a positive note, this meeting was in Sanibel Island. Two years post-Ian, they have done a TREMENDOUS amount of work, please go show some local love and support this cute little island.
Thank you, Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) - Sanibel & Captiva Islands, Florida for organizing this impactful program about connection and networks before, during, and after natural disasters! We feel honored to work alongside many dedicated, 'boots-on-the-ground' nonprofits.
Relationships are at the heart of what we do. Sanibel and Captiva nonprofits gathered today for a 1/2 day seminar to reflect on our inter-organizational relationships and the different types of networks we need for improved resiliency and collaboration. Chair and Professor of the Rutgers University School of Communication Dr Marya L. Doerfel led us through an analysis of our social capital and provided each of us with the tools to begin to evaluate how we can improve the way in which we collaborate. Thank you to Dana Souza who provided our opening reflection on what he has learned about relationships and collaboration since Hurricane Ian. Ding Darling Wildlife Society were gracious hosts!
