We're not saying we aced it, but we'd still frame this report card. A year ago we put our neck (and our pride?) on the line with 10 predictions for the restaurant industry in 2024, published in QSR Magazine. Here's how that played out: ? We got a lot right. We saw traffic softening, check growth waning, price sensitivity increasing, and value promotions making a comeback. We knew labor would be a challenge, and competition from new units would put pressure on operators. ? We didn't nail everything. We didn't anticipate just how many full-service closures would happen so fast; and we underestimated how far some brands would go with price cuts and discounting to stay competitive. This article breaks it all down. Like the many operators we work with, we're always learning. We're made with love for restaurants, which means we don't just analyze from the sidelines.
