The University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), which are linked as one research enterprise in the National Science Foundation (NSF)’s latest Higher Education Research and Development (HERD)?survey, reported combined research expenditures of almost $1.4 billion in fiscal year 2023, up nearly $157 million from the previous year. UMD also moved up to #18 among all U.S. institutions and #11 nationally among public institutions in research and development spending. NeuroTech Harbor is proud to announce the launch of the NIH Blueprint MedTech Pathways Pilot Program! The NIH Blueprint Medtech Pathways pilot program is an immersive 12-week traineeship intended to educate and cultivate aspiring/early-stage innovators from groups historically underrepresented in biotech who are interested in the commercialization of neurotechnologies. The program will provide a unique educational experience tailored to neurotechnology and leverage resources from the NIH Blueprint Medtech program to provide guided hands-on experience, on-call mentorship, and clinical and technical networks for solution validation. The Pathways pilot aims to promote inclusive innovation, reduce barriers to commercialization and provide a pipeline to the broader NIH Blueprint Medtech ecosystem. Graduate students, post-docs, medical fellows & residents, and young faculty from HBCUs and MSIs with an?early-stage neurotechnology device idea?for development who have inadequate resources or knowledge of translation are encouraged to apply!
