Excited to finally announce our value-based-care partnership: Firstgrin partnered with Thrive Kids New Orleans through Children's Hospital New Orleans and LCMC Health! This initiative is truly by parents, for parents. Dr. Elise Esposito-McCollum and I brainstormed (via Zoom with our mom buns and discussing sleep challenges, each of us with 2 really young kids) while reimagining how care is delivered to moms, dads, caregivers, parents, and kids in communities. We texted each other while our kids fought colds and sicknesses, and we still were able to build something meaningful for families while supporting one another in motherhood. I’m so grateful for her. We redesigned pediatric medical and dental materials to be practical, inclusive, and easy to understand. By working with medical translators, we ensured they are accessible to all families, regardless of background, to better support children’s health. New Orleans and Louisiana are so resilient— during the short timeline that we created and executed this partnership, Louisiana was struck by Hurricane Francine, and we saw the launch of this program shortly after the tragedy that shook New Orleans on New Year’s. Witnessing the strength and determination of this city and state reinforced why this work matters. So far, we’ve sent out over 1,000 oral health kits to kids in Louisiana to parents of kids from 0-5 years old, merging medicine and dentistry in a way that feels seamless and supportive. I couldn’t be prouder of the impact this partnership is already having, and I’m so grateful for the opportunity to help more families thrive.
