    Congrats to Andy Jessberger and Jeremiah Durr on getting their Daycare deal done at Bridgeport Landing in University Place! This will backfill the old Bartell Drug space in a building that Andy and his partner have owned for 20+ years. Gotta believe our tour from “bring your kid to work day” this spring was a big factor! The kids were probably hoping for a trampoline park or arcade but fun to see their creativity when we tasked them to brainstorm what type of businesses could open here…..pretty sure daycare was on their list!     I recently finished reading Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara, and it was truly a refreshing perspective on the idea of service. I believe in real estate (even more so, commercial real estate) we can get caught in facilitating a transaction and forget that we ARE in the service industry. We are providing important services daily to clients who are dreaming about their next business venture, depending on our location expertise as they consider expanding to the area or even planning for future investments as they are dreaming about setting up their family with generational wealth. As I read through Unreasonable Hospitality it left me reflecting on how we can bring the same level of exceptional, dare I say - unreasonable, service to our clients and how I can best serve the First Western Properties brokers as their marketing expert. The book emphasizes going above and beyond to create memorable experiences that truly resonate, not just about meeting expectations—it’s about exceeding them in ways that feel personal and meaningful. Here are a few quotes that were left underlined in my copy and serve as a reminder to always reach for “unreasonable” service. Here’s to pushing boundaries and setting new standards for clients and our team. ?? ?? "Service is black and white; hospitality is color. 'Black and white' means you're doing your job with competence and efficiency; 'color' means you make people feel great about the job you're doing for them." ?? "In restaurants - and in all customer-service professions - the goal is to connect with people. Hospitality means breaking down barriers, not putting them up!" ?? "I wanted our team members to understand that hospitality elevates service not only for the person receiving it, but for the person delivering it...acknowledge the importance of the work and impact you can have on others when you're doing it." ?? "Being able to communicate your own excitement is a powerful way to engage the people who work for and with you, and to infect them with energy and a sense of purpose." ?? "That's the very definition of excellence: getting as many details right as you can." ?? "This is a hospitality solution: a problem that we solved not by sneakily chipping away at the service we were offering but by blowing it out in the opposite direction - by giving more, not less." There are a lot more where that came from, so needless to say I highly recommend this book to anyone who may be looking for a way to level up their service and dream big about how they can exceed all expectations.     In honor of Veterans Day, we’re privileged to share a story close to our hearts: Tim Weber‘s tribute to his father-in-law’s remarkable service in the Air Force. Serving 7 years in active combat and 23 years in the reserves, Peter Green completed 268 combat missions, flying the iconic F-105D Thunderchief and earning the Air Medal, Territory of Achievement Medal, and Good Conduct Medal during his service. Recently, as a meaningful gesture, Tim crafted a model of the exact aircraft his father-in-law piloted, presenting it as a small thank you, but a lasting symbol of respect for his service and sacrifice. Today and every day, let’s all reflect: How can we thank those who served our country? First Western Properties would like to honor and say thank you to ALL veterans, including our own Kristina Osborn, Ray Velkers, and Ralph Barber. Your dedication inspires us every day, and no amount of gratitude can truly repay the sacrifices made, but each thank you is a small gesture toward that end and we are honored to work alongside you. ????
