FICOH’s inclusion team helped ring in the season by organizing a holiday gift-wrapping class! Our volunteer instructors supplied materials and a practice gift box for every participant, guiding them through each technique step by step. During the class, associates learned the traditional Japanese gift-wrapping technique known as Furoshiki, along with various styles of festive bows to dress up their gifts this holiday season. Mahalo to everyone who made this festive event possible.

The FICOH Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) team recently returned from their final off-site visit in Jersey City, where they successfully summarized seven months of work into a seven-minute presentation to a panel of Tokio Marine Group CEOs. The entire team found the experience to be rewarding, as they honed their leadership skills and fostered professional connections with participants from other group companies. We’re so proud of our Claims team. They were recognized in October at the inaugural Tokio Marine Group Awards ceremony for their response to the Maui wildfires. Yvette Barradas, our Vice President of Claims, traveled to Tokyo for the ceremony and accepted the award on behalf of her team. “It was a true honor,” said Yvette. “This recognition is a tribute to our team's unwavering commitment to managing claims with empathy, resilience, and delivering on our promise to be a Good Company.” Congratulations to all the honorees, and mahalo to our Claims team for their hard work and dedication. We’re still reminiscing about the fun times we had at our Splash Down fundraiser for Aloha United Way last week! The top 12 most-voted-for associates embraced the spirit of charity as their colleagues unleashed a barrage of water balloons and icy water buckets in a bid to soak their friends while supporting a great cause. All told, our Splash Down event raised more than $1,800 for Aloha United Way! #AlohaUnitedWay #FICOHSplashDown

Last Saturday, our associates, friends, and family gathered with thousands of walkers at Magic Island for the Alzheimer's Association? 2024 Walk to End Alzheimer's. A dedicated supporter of the Alzheimer’s Association and a proud event sponsor, FICOH also match contributions made by our associates to the Alzheimer’s Association. Last week, our senior flood underwriter Maile Fuchshuber ANFI, AIS attended Tokio Marine’s inaugural Global Women’s Conference in Tokyo, Japan, alongside 60 other participants from group companies worldwide. Over the course of the two-day event, she engaged with global colleagues, took part in meaningful discussions on women’s empowerment and DE&I initiatives in the workplace, explored Japanese culture, and listened to insights from senior Tokio Marine leaders. She was especially inspired by the keynote speaker, Masahiko Uotani, CEO of Shiseido, who highlighted the concept of “Gemba,” meaning “the real place” in Japanese. “In business, it refers to where value is created,” Maile explained. “Building meaningful relationships and caring for those who work closest to the customer is the key to success in his company.” She also enjoyed visiting several breathtaking sites, such as the red rose garden atop the New Otani Hotel, Tokyo’s scenic Sumida River, and the ancient Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa.
