If you spend any time in the halls of Capitol Commons Senior, you’re likely to run into our Maintenance Supervisor Sammie Lofton. Stoic but friendly Sammie buzzes from job to job, steady and efficiently going about the tasks of the day. Seldom ruffled, Sammie attacks even the toughest jobs energetically and with a can-do attitude. When thanked, he will often respond with “Think nothing of it”. And maybe, at first, that’s what you do. You think nothing of Sam’s work. It’s easy to do after all, he handles his daily work so calmly and with seemingly so little effort that’s it’s easy to forget how demanding his job actually is. It’s not until he bails you out for the tenth time, until he squashes another emergency, until he shows up just when you need him yet again, calmly and professionally taking a bad situation in hand, that you find yourself thanking him sincerely; then he humbly responds “Think nothing of it” and it hits you how lucky you are to have Sammie as part of your team.
