A non-partisan, non-profit, the First Amendment Museum's mission is to inspire US to “Live Our Freedoms” by understanding and using our First Amendment rights to advance democracy so that all reap the benefits. The First Amendment protects the freedoms of religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition. The museum will promote the practice and understanding of the First Amendment to the US Constitution by developing a landmark museum with innovative exhibits and engaging programming. By creating a far-reaching partnership network and accessible and relevant online materials, we will inspire all Americans to experience the five freedoms in their own lives.

As President of the Augusta Women's Suffrage Association, she played a pivotal role in securing women's right to vote in Maine.
