First 5 LA congratulates Maria Cabildo on her appointment as the Durfee Foundation’s new CEO. We greatly admire and share in Maria’s vision of advancing equity for historically disadvantaged communities and making Los Angeles a place where everyone can thrive.

Today, First 5 LA, in partnership with the Mexican American Opportunity Foundation (MAOF) and the Child Care Alliance of Los Angeles, hosted Assemblymember Blanca Pacheco (AD-62) at the MAOF Downey Child Care Center. The Assemblywoman got to experience how the center is supporting children and families with a whole-child, whole-family approach to early learning by connecting with students during story-time, sharing a meal, and talking with the dedicated caregivers who nurture the children daily. The visit is one of several visits of MAOF family child care homes across Bell Gardens.
