Immuta’s first innovation abstracted data policy from the database. Before us, governance teams depended on engineers with the skills to write data access controls within databases via code - governors and stewards managed via memos and in-person meetings. With the emergence of citizen data science and converged data architectures, our first customers needed a way to enable governance teams to control data access directly. So, Immuta built a GUI-based policy builder for governance teams to scale data access. We built a sizable business on this innovation: ? General Motors - Converge global vehicle telemetry into GM Finance and Onstar Insurance. ? Roche - Implement GXP compliance across HR, clinical, and RWD/RWE. ? Advana - Enable 800+ DoD units and 2M+ data sources to establish unit-level control of data. With the adoption of GenAI, we recognize that our first innovation needed to be rebuilt for the exponentially different scale of agentic architecture. To put it into perspective, an average customer has 25 data governors who support 20K data consumers. This translates to ~200K data requests/year or 150/week per governor.?This scale is tough but manageable with our policy builder.?? With GenAI, anyone can write “code” and query data, which creates 5x more data requests, or 100K / year. With agents, this number goes to 100x, or 2M requests. Human-led data governance can't handle that scale. This forced us to rethink our approach. So, we built an internal Data Marketplace, which allows users to request access to data products and get direct access.?Our goal is not to create yet another data catalog; instead, our vision is to set the foundation of workflow services to provision instantaneous data access.?This is accomplished via crowd-sourced policy exceptions vs direct policy creation. This model scales access and policy decisions to 100K+ requests. However, with agents, it will scale to millions. That requires AI; there is no other way. Based on this conclusion, I am excited to announce our second innovation, Immuta AI, our horizontal layer for scaling enterprise governance teams with AI. This layer underpins governance team workflows to remove human toil in the data provisioning process and enter the era of the agent: ? ???????????? ?????????????? - A chat interface for governance teams to build subscription and data policies. ? ???????????? ???????????????????????????? - Built on data governor decision patterns, a service that recommends policies to governors based on their previous decisions. ? ???????????? ?????????????????????????????? - A service to check & balance AI decisions. Takes back risky access or dormant activity. Immuta AI will increase the productivity of the governance team and enable the broader employee base and non-human agent workforce to get more access to data faster, putting data to work at an unprecedented pace.?
