During defensible space season, personalized emails are a game-changer for fire departments in engaging residents to take action. We launched a campaign for Berkley Fire Department, sending over 7,500 emails to residents in the WUI. The results? A whopping 68% opened them within 72 hours. #CommunityResilience

Thank you to TRUCKEE FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT's Maria Marsh for joining us last week on our Real Estate Transactions and Defensible Space webinar. Maria walked us through lessons learned from 5+ years of collaboration with the real estate industry, utilizing real estate transactions to improve hardening outcomes, and how tools can aid residents in building resilient communities. "We want our buyers to be aware of both the resilient and vulnerable features of the property they are taking... because it influences not just decisions they make about their structure but decisions they make about their defensible space." Thank you to the agencies that joined us and Maria for your valuable insights. Stay tuned for our next webinar!

Our next community webinar is next week! Learn how Truckee Fire is using the real estate transaction to increase and maintain the number of resilient homes. Starting years before AB38, this approach with support and engagement from the real estate community has been very effective. We will discuss lessons learned, how the real estate community was engaged and actively participates, progress to date and future plans. If you are looking to create or simply improve your real estate wildfire inspection program this will be a great discussion. Please send an email to [email protected] to register. "Let's get this done"
"We know what we should be doing, in fact the whole state knows what we should be doing, but we haven't been able to do it yet. Let's get this done."? – Colin Arnold, Assistant Chief Berkeley is taking bold steps to strengthen wildfire resilience with the EMBER initiative—tightening fire defense measures, creating a new high-risk zone, and finally enforcing ember-resistant zones around homes. Berkeley City Council is holding a work session on Feb. 11 to discuss the EMBER proposal. ?? Read more: https://lnkd.in/ebPAmC7X #WildfireResilience #DisasterPreparedness #BerkeleyFire #EMBER

Training & practice is important. This is why it was great to get this photo from our partners in Sonoma County using our training tool. The training module allows many evaluators to visit the same property and then easily compare the evaluations by students & instructor per property. Automated comparison evaluates the location of discovery, volume, photo quality, discovery type and more. Regardless if you are onboarding community volunteers for a neighborhood or hiring 50 seasonal inspectors, the Training Module is just one of many tools that help program efficiently scale. Educating & engaging residents about their defensible space and home hardening leads to action. Christopher Anthony Molly Curley O'Brien J. Lopez Ralph Bloemers Seth Schalet Todd Lando
