We are thrilled to announce that QI TONG has joined Fire & Risk Alliance, LLC as a Fire Protection Engineer.??Qi will be specializing in data-driven methods and numerical modeling to address fire safety challenges. Before joining FRA, she served as a PREP research scientist in the Fire Fighting Technology Group at NIST, where she focused on investigating thermal risks to firefighters and enhancing firefighter safety. Qi earned her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 2023, where her research explored advanced machine learning techniques for smart firefighting and real-time fire hazard prediction. Her work encompasses predicting firefighter thermal risks with machine learning, modeling fire hazards following earthquakes using Bayesian inference, assessing structural fire resistance, forecasting wildfire ignitions with ensemble methods, and evaluating the resilience of process facilities through Bayesian networks. Please help us give Qi a warm welcome!

Nick brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles as a technical director, where he led development teams of software engineers, data scientists, and UX designers to tackle big data challenges in both commercial and government sectors. He excels in collaboration and solutions architecture, focusing on delivering software that is maintainable, extendable, and cost-effective. Nick is passionate about transforming functional products into impactful solutions. Nick holds a BS in Computer Engineering from the University of Maryland, College Park.
