Proud of us this year ????
Founder & CEO, Fintech Is Femme ??? | 4x Award-Winning Journalist & Entrepreneur | Author of Fintech Feminists ??| Content Director | Global Speaker | Moderator | Professor | ???? | Community Builder for Women in Fintech
What a full-circle moment ?? Last night, I stood on stage at the Shorty Awards in downtown LA, honored as a recipient of the Wave HQ Elevate Creatives Fund Award at the stunning Belasco Theater. ?? And then LinkedIn reminded me: today marks 3 years since I founded Fintech Is Femme. Three years… wow. Year 1: We grew to 50,000 subscribers. ?? Year 2: We went independent, with Anton Briones and I taking full creative and operational control of Fintech Is Femme. Year 3: I leapt into full-time entrepreneurship, hoping not to drown— and wow, we flew instead. ?? Here’s the thing: I never thought I’d be here, a 4x award-winning journalist and entrepreneur (typing that feels surreal). But one lesson from a college journalism professor shaped my path: “Being a great journalist isn’t about perfect grammar or spelling. It’s about being a great storyteller—finding the gaps, especially in places no one else wants to look.” That’s exactly what Fintech Is Femme is about. Using storytelling to fill a glaring gap in #fintech: uplifting women entrepreneurs and creating a world where they thrive as founders, CEOs, and changemakers. The wins this year? Hosting sold-out events nationwide, writing my first book Fintech Feminists with Wiley, touring across the country, speaking at places like Harvard University and now… celebrating this award with all of you. But let me be real: this year wasn’t easy. There were moments I wanted to hit “pause” on everything. I questioned if I had the strength to keep going. And then, last night, LeVar Burton’s words hit me straight in the heart: “To be useful in life is a goal worthy of a human being.” This work—telling these stories, building this community—it’s purpose work. And it’s the greatest gift. So here’s to celebrating the wins, the struggles, and the purpose that drives us forward. ?? I’m ready to make Year 4 even bigger?? Join us for the first-ever FEMMY AWARDS on December 9 in NYC as we celebrate the launch of The Academy of Fintech— a membership community for women (and men) ready to redefine fintech’s future. The event will include leadership lessons with an exclusive fireside chat with industry vanguard Lule D. And master classes from team Fintech Is Femme on performance. ?? Doors close for founding members on Dec. 9. Because women in fintech deserve better: We make up half the world’s workforce. Yet, we receive only 2% of venture funding and hold just 6% of CEO roles. This is infuriating and unacceptable. We’re here to change that. Ready to join this award-winning movement? ?? Save your spot here: https://lu.ma/Femmys we’ve got a lot to celebrate but as LeVar Burton said, “Take a deep breath. We got shit to do.” MAJOR shoutout to my stylist Keltoum Mazid for putting this look together for me and this special moment! ?? #FintechIsFemme #StorytellingMatters #WomenInFintech #FEMMYAwards
