Hush money ???? nounINFORMAL 1. money paid to someone to prevent them from disclosing embarrassing or discreditable information. I had to read the exact definition. And, it checks out. I was paid hush money as to not expose an executive leader indulgent in fraud but… It was never called hush money. I just randomly got a bonus…after exposing fraudulent activity by an exec to the VC/lead investor. They didn’t have me sign a document stating I wouldn’t talk. They didn’t take me seriously - that I wouldn’t talk, that I wouldn’t expose the executive or the VC. And guess what… they were right. I was scared sh$tless. I was young. Had bills to pay. And, couldn’t afford getting mixed into something that could potentially ruin my reputation. Again, this is yet another example of when I thought I was F’ing Up. I couldn’t catch a break. I desperately wanted to make something of my career yet, I was working for an executive and a VC that was only concerned about their reputation. They wanted to bury the problem and they did.
