Conversations with successful individual about their failures.

关于我们

Society has programmed individuals, largely by way of social media, to think success happens easily and overnight. F'ing Up gives the ideal audience, someone either just starting out in their career or actively considering a pivot, an opportunity to understand the realities. As the host, I interview successful individuals, point out what they’ve achieved and immediately throw that information out the window and focus on the tripping hazards along the way. I highlight the tough realities and humanize the experience of the climb to the top. Guests include an accomplished journalist, a serial tech CEO/COO, a social media influencer, a CFO within a Fortune 500 public company, and more.

The seduction of status is a hell of a drug. You spend your career chasing it—more money, bigger titles, shinier things. You look around at others. You see even shinier things, which of course tempts you to want more and/or feel you haven’t achieved enough. You don’t realize how much you’re attaching your worthiness to external markers. One day, you stop and consider everything and wonder, was worth it? Was it worth the hours you can’t get back, the moments you missed, the version of yourself you had to bury to fit the mold? Status feels good—until it doesn’t. ?? Listen to my conversation with Aimee Gindin on this topic during her episode of the F’ing Up Podcast. You can listen wherever you get your podcasts or is it the comments below for a direct link. ————————- ABOUT AIMEE GINDIN Aimee Gindin is a leadership coach, keynote speaker and author of dozens of published business and lifestyle articles. With a background as both a former mental health clinician and a C-Suite executive, she combines her passion for personal growth with her business and leadership experience to create actionable steps for professionals looking to make positive changes in their lives and in their careers ————————- ABOUT F’ING UP Deanne Rhynard is dedicated to sharing the real truths from career journeys of successful individuals. ??I DON’T know what I want to be when I grow up… and I am 41. Some would say I am running out of time. I would tell you I give less sh$ts than society thinks I should. But it took me 40 years to adopt that mentality. ???? We pressure our youth, almost immediately to sort out their future. Asking questions like, ?What do you want to be when you grow up? ?Where will you apply for college? ?Have you chosen your major? ?What job are you hoping to land? ?What are your goals for your future career? EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS TIES OUR WORTH TO OUR CAREER. We are so much more than our future jobs. We apply the pressure, laying it on super thick, and then wonder why we all feel like failures at one time or [a million] other[s]. It’s time to rethink how approach this with the generations to come. Be curious without the pressure. Avoid making career the first subject of conversation. Look around you and realize we are ALL doing our best AND we are ALL struggling. I touch on this during S3 Ep 1 of F'ing Up with guest, Austin Moore. I would love and appreciate your support. Austin shares openly with F'ing Up Podcast host, Deanne Rhynard, about how he gave it all up to fight through his anxiety and be with his daughter. Hush money ???? nounINFORMAL 1. money paid to someone to prevent them from disclosing embarrassing or discreditable information. I had to read the exact definition. And, it checks out. I was paid hush money as to not expose an executive leader indulgent in fraud but… It was never called hush money. I just randomly got a bonus…after exposing fraudulent activity by an exec to the VC/lead investor. They didn’t have me sign a document stating I wouldn’t talk. They didn’t take me seriously - that I wouldn’t talk, that I wouldn’t expose the executive or the VC. And guess what… they were right. I was scared sh$tless. I was young. Had bills to pay. And, couldn’t afford getting mixed into something that could potentially ruin my reputation. Again, this is yet another example of when I thought I was F’ing Up. I couldn’t catch a break. I desperately wanted to make something of my career yet, I was working for an executive and a VC that was only concerned about their reputation. They wanted to bury the problem and they did. That made me feel horrible. I created F'ing Up to share real truths about the career journeys of successful individuals. I interview these individuals, point out what they’ve achieved and immediately throw that out the window and focus on the tripping hazards along the way. I walked in on an executive????naked… with their significant other… in the office… twice… and I felt like the failure. ??♀? Why was I in this job? Why did I work for people who didn’t care about me or fellow colleagues? Why did my boss have s$x in the office? When they knew they’d get caught? Why? I felt like a failure because I gave my all and not much was considered in return. Values were not aligned. Many of us have feelings similar to this. We often bear them alone.
