This article outlines federal protections against pay discrimination, harassment, hiring bias, forced retirement, and other discrimination based on sex and age (40+). As mentioned, from 2020 to 2023, the EEOC received over 52,000 age discrimination charges, with women filing over half. They also recovered $146M for female victims under the ADEA during this period. A new EEOC fact sheet highlights federal laws that prohibit pay discrimination, harassment, hiring discrimination, forced retirement, and other forms of employment discrimination faced by women based on sex and age (40 and over). Between fiscal years 2020 and 2023, the EEOC received 52,000+ charges of age discrimination, at least half of which were filed by women, and 15,000+ charges of discrimination based on both sex and age from women workers.
