Dr. Patricia Wright?is a world-renowned primatologist and conservationist, known for her groundbreaking work in preserving Madagascar’s endangered lemurs. For over 40 years, she has pioneered efforts to protect biodiversity and foster sustainable conservation solutions that benefit both nature and local communities. ? As the founder of the?Institute for the Conservation of Tropical Environments (ICTE) at Stony Brook University, Dr. Wright has been a driving force behind the creation of protected areas in Madagascar. She also co-founded?Centre ValBio, a research and education center in Ranomafana National Park, focused on advancing biodiversity research and training the next generation of Malagasy conservationists. ? What sets Dr. Wright apart is her practical experience in integrating the private sector into conservation efforts. Through partnerships with industries like?cocoa and spices, she has demonstrated how businesses can support biodiversity protection while promoting sustainable practices that benefit both the environment and local communities—creating a true?win-win?for stakeholders.
