Today is an Anniversary of Sorts... Seven years ago, on the Thursday before Thanksgiving, my world shifted. I was laid off. I saw the signs, but hearing the words made it painfully real. That moment was the lowest point of my career and my life. I was broke. Depressed. Struggling as a single mom. Christmas was a single present for my daughter and a holiday season spent in a dreary apartment, unable to fly home to family. But here’s why I’m sharing this: The holidays can be a tough time for job seekers, and I want you to know you’re not alone. Out of sheer necessity, I started writing resumes to survive. It wasn’t glamorous, but little by little, it became my lifeline. I invested $69 in LinkedIn Premium—a leap of faith that changed everything. Fast-forward to today, and what started as survival has become a thriving business. How did I get here? Gratitude. Tiny steps. Asking for help. For Someone Who Hosts 3 LinkedIn Audio Events Weekly, This Feels Like a Gut Punch ?? Social Audio has revolutionized the way we engage and connect. Truthfully, it’s introduced me to some of my biggest cheerleaders—both personally and professionally. People like Bobby Umar, RACHEL SIMON, Chelle Shapiro, Roy Kowarski, and Ken Sher—just to name a few. These aren’t just connections; they’re friends from all over the world, and I’m so grateful for the relationships we’ve built all because of Social Audio. We migrated from Clubhouse to LinkedIn Audio because this platform is where our audience is. LinkedIn Audio Events created an accessible, low-barrier way to connect and collaborate. But with the latest announcement, LinkedIn isn’t enhancing audio events—it’s dismantling them. Here’s the deal: ?? You’ll need a 3rd party streaming tool (like StreamYard, Restream) to host events. ?? No more “stage” participation. Audience members can no longer join in verbally—it’s just chat comments. ?? It’s being rolled into LinkedIn Live. But let’s be honest, this isn’t LinkedIn Audio anymore—it’s a glorified LinkedIn Live that requires paid tools. This platform seems to have a mixed identity, and I question whether the decision-makers behind the scenes truly understand what their members want. I’ve said it before: LinkedIn giveth, and LinkedIn taketh away. Even more frustrating? The abruptness. To roll this out so close to the holidays, with less than two weeks to adjust, feels thoughtless. Where’s the face of LinkedIn explaining this decision to its loyal users? Instead, we’re left with a nameless, faceless email that falls flat. So what’s next for me and the weekly rooms I host? Truthfully, I don’t know yet. My co-hosts and I are still processing this, and we’ll be developing a plan moving forward.
