After a power pole holding three transformers collapsed in a severe strorm and crashed against FIBA's Louisville, Kentucky service center, cutting off the plant’s power, work was brought to a temporary standstill. But FIBA’s expert team got the site back up and running less than 24 hours. The electricity lines had been torn away from the building, halting all testing, servicing and repairs. Working with the local power company, the FIBA team got the site back up in less than 24 hours. FIBA Plant Manager, Gray Allred, said: “The FIBA Louisville site specializes in the repair and re-test of trailers and manufacturing of vaporizers. Due to the storm damage, we were temporarily shut down. Initial assessments suggested the closure might last several days. "However, thanks to our team’s quick response and strong collaboration with the local power company and electrical contractors, the facility was fully operational by that evening. The FIBA Louisville team worked together to ensure that this setback did not impact customer wait times and that our quality services continued to be delivered efficiently.” Well done, FIBA Louisville!

No shake, rattle or roll... FIBA verifies the structural integrity of products for seismic loads, often alongside proof of suitability for ground storage vessels to be located in regions of volatile weather, such as tornados and hurricanes. Seismic calculations conducted by a Professional Engineer demonstrate to what level high pressure ground storage vessels can withstand movement caused by an earthquake. As FIBA supplies products to customers around the world such requests are common, not least for ground storage deployed in California, Japan, and across the Middle and Far East. The seismic and wind calculations are run according to the specific location of the vessels using finite element analysis (FEA) methods, amongst others as required. Once calculations are finalized, drawings are stamped by the Professional Engineer along with any local State or Province stamp required. This careful design approach is the bedrock of the deployment of FIBA’s vessels in some of the least hospitable environments and gives customers the confidence that their investment will withstand the conditions to which they will be exposed, wherever in the world they are deployed. In addition, one other important structural integrity check performed is for lifting loads of ground storage packs, with any changes incorporated into the overall vessel and frame design.

The scale of FIBA Technologies' new manufacturing site in Trelleborg, Sweden can be seen in this new flyover video. FIBA Trelleborg is being developed to replicate the manufacturing capability of our Massachusetts plant, which can produce up to 3,000 high pressure gas vessels each year. Trelleborg will be key to FIBA's ability to serve the European hydrogen industry. The last few weeks have seen truck after truck rolling into FIBA Technologies’ Littleton, MA plant, delivering hundreds of pipes, the raw material for our high pressure gas storage vessels and trailers. A stock yard full of pipes is a sign of FIBA’s drive to streamline its supply chain and keep lead times down. We are now more than a year into FIBA’s new supply chain regime, developed after the post-pandemic surge in critical raw material prices and supplies. This was coupled with transportation and logistics challenges which FIBA addressed by working closely with customers, suppliers and logistics experts. The result saw FIBA implement flexible solutions that meet customer needs in a timely manner. Specifically, FIBA has fostered flexible provider relationships, realigned its transportation systems and entered into a whole range of critical agreements that have resulted in a robust and reliable materials supply chain. The visible result is that driveway full of trucks delivering pipe.

FIBA's new Sweden plant is coming along in leaps and bounds: recent trial manufacturing runs have seen the first test vessels coming off the line. We're on track for producing high pressure Type 1 vessels later this year. FIBA’s Chief Operating Officer, John Finn, has sent us this update from Trelleborg: “We've spent the last few months preparing the site and installing state-of-the-art machinery and plant, including a furnace and spinner. I'm happy to report that we have completed trial spinning sessions on tubes for the first time in Sweden. “FIBA spins tubes to form their ends as this delivers a more accurate product in a reliable and speedy manner. “Our Sweden plant is being developed in answer to customer demand in Europe and beyond. It will replicate our Massachusetts site which can produce 3,000 vessels a year.” #fibatech #highpressuregas #gasvessels #gasstorage #gastransportation

Hydrogen for breakfast? It's encouraging to see the roll-out of hydrogen as an alternative fuel being trialled by various major manufacturers. In the UK, Kellogg Company has just completed a three-week trial of hydrogen-powered cereal production, as we can read in H2 View here https://lnkd.in/gMjS9vTF H2 View reports that at Kellogg's Manchester factory in the North of England fossil fuel gas was replaced with hydrogen to power the cereal giant's toasting oven. So in the coming weeks Brits can enjoy their Corn Flakes, Bran Flakes, Special K and Rice Krispies even more, knowing they've been toasted using hydrogen. #hydrogen #gasstorage #gastransportation #fibatech
