From the FGIA Member Edge blog: "The Window Safety Task Force was formed in 1997 to provide education to help parents and caregivers prevent window falls. Upon joining the task force (and the fenestration industry) in 2004, I could immediately see the benefit of this important work; however, I didn’t really have any skin in the game. Now, I have 21 years of industry experience under my belt and serve as the co-chair of the WSTF, while also being the mother of two amazing kids and the neighborhood 'window safety lady.'"

Revisiting Helen Sanders' blog from a few months ago: "Got great windows? Knocking down the financial barriers to adoption through cultural transformation." As presented at Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA)'s annual conference, barriers to adopting high-performance fa?ades are the focus of a research report by the FACADE TECTONICS INSTITUTE INC (FTI) for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Helen Sanders and Stephen Selkowitz, supported by Valerie Block, conducted the study. In this blog Helen Sanders takes a look into the underlying causes of a second barrier (see this previous blog for the first https://lnkd.in/etnrstZH): “There is insufficient return on investment (ROI) on the first cost increase of high-performance fa?ades.” This blog also includes an interesting case study by PAE Engineers provides a financial blueprint for developer-led high-performance buildings. Congratulations, Eric!
Shoutout to our very own Eric Woodshank! Woody, as we prefer to call him, has just earned his FenestrationMaster from Fenestration and Glazing Industry Alliance (FGIA)! This is a massive accomplishment, and we could not be more proud to have him on our team!

FGIA has named three new Honorary Members of the Association. Steve Fronek (Apogee Enterprises), Rob Luter (Lippert Components) and Steve Strawn (JELD-WEN) now join the legacy of becoming Honorary Members of FGIA. Honorary FGIA members are those who are retired from the industry and have demonstrated exceptional dedication and contributions to the Association, have held multiple leadership positions, and/or have had continuous participation in the Association for 20 years or more. Nominations are required from at least three FGIA members, positioning this honor as a peer recognition.

From the FGIA Socially Speaking blog: "It has been a particularly long winter, with snow days approaching the double digits here in the Mid Ohio Valley where I live, but there is light at the end of the tunnel! And, as is the case each spring, with warmer weather comes this reminder to parents: Screens are meant to keep bugs out, not to keep kids in. This is just one of many pieces of advice offered by the Window Safety Task Force. This industry group takes the time each year to share resources and tips every spring to commemorate Window Safety Week, the first full week of April. In 2025, that means Window Safety Week will be recognized April 6-12."

In case you missed it: FGIA Annual Conference participants had an opportunity to engage in an active workshop with five stations, including an anodizing finishing station, a cleaning station, a liquid and powder finishing station, a thermal break station and a billet and extruding station. Many actions are needed before aluminum used in fenestration applications can appear on a building. This session explored several of the steps that take place from extracting the mineral from the ground to producing a profile ready for glazing. Workshop materials were generously supplied by Axalta Coating Systems, Azon, BCI Surface Technologies, Hydro, PPG Industries, Quaker Houghton, Technoform and Winco Window Company.
