Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting Andrew Lupoli, assistant treasurer of Brown & Brown Insurance for a GBM. He shared his process when issuing bonds, and also his thoughts on the current state of the market. It was very insightful hearing about the real world applications of fixed income. Florida Fixed Income Group is a student-run organization at the University of Florida that specializes in fixed-income securities, capital markets, and restructurings. We introduce intro-level topics focusing on capital markets, futures, and derivatives via general body meetings weekly on Fridays from 10:00-11:00 AM. Visit our website for updated schedules. We also offer the opportunity to dive deeper into these topics via a fixed-income analyst program, where members have the opportunity to create long-short positions for our virtual portfolio and track the returns on a bi-weekly basis. This program offers members that are interested to see how to apply knowledge introduced in the meetings to the markets.

This past Friday we had the pleasure of hosting Michael Scerbo who spoke to our club on corporate credit ratings and created an engaging workshop with mock companies. We used the S&P rating scale and gained a deeper knowledge on how the rating process works. Thanks once again to Michael and everyone who came out!
