The Guelph Environmental Justice Collective is working to address the impacts of climate change on vulnerable populations in their city. They’ve been working on increasing water and sanitation access, exploring tent-safe heaters, and hosting community outreach events in support of unhoused individuals in Guelph. They also contributed to the deferral of an anti-encampment bylaw proposed by the city. What a week! The Youth Harbour’s Abundance Fellowship Retreat was a transformative experience filled with collaborative learning, connection building, and restorative resilience—truly nothing short of inspiring. Through workshops focused on strategic and project planning, fundraising, and communications and marketing, we are hopeful that the Abundance fellows are leaving with valuable tools to advance their visionary projects at the intersection of climate justice and social justice. A heartfelt thank-you to the fellows who have courageously created solutions rooted in their lived experiences. Aish Mann, Alexis Zhou, Atreyu Lewis, Celine I, Imany Bégin-Paul and Jose Reyeros, we are so excited to see these projects continue to thrive and make an impact. Special thanks to the workshop facilitators, including Jessica LeBlanc, Kat Cadungog, Kathryn Hoffart and Sophia Lindfield who generously shared years of expertise tailored to youth-driven grassroots initiatives. This retreat would not have been possible without the incredible coordination and support of the entire FES team, including Alyssa Obrand, Emily Lau, Julie Dunleavy, Miranda Podolinsky, and Valerie Ntinu. The passion and dedication shown by everyone involved leave us inspired and optimistic about the future these fellows are building. ?? Quelle semaine ! La retraite de la Bourse d’Abondance du Havre jeunesse a été une expérience transformatrice, riche en apprentissage collaboratif, en création de liens et en résilience réparatrice - vraiment rien de moins que inspirant. Grace à des ateliers axés sur la planification stratégique et de projet, la collecte de fonds, la communication et le marketing, nous espérons que les bénéficiaires d'Abondance repartiront avec des outils précieux pour faire avancer leurs projets visionnaires à l'intersection de la justice climatique et de la justice sociale. Un grand merci aux bénéficiaires qui ont courageusement créé des solutions ancrées dans leurs expériences vécues.
