Visit our Linktree for some resources: https://linktr.ee/fercopp The Office of Public Participation’s (OPP) mission is to empower, promote, and support public voices at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC or the Commission). OPP achieves this mission through direct outreach and education to help people understand: - How FERC works - What industry/program areas FERC covers - How to participate in FERC proceedings OPP assists landowners, Tribal governments and members, local communities, small businesses, teachers and students, environmental advocates, and anyone else affected by and interested in FERC proceedings by providing information on individual proceedings and responding to requests for technical assistance. OPP will not assist in the actual drafting of pleadings and other submissions, but it can provide guidance and instruction on how to effectively intervene, comment, file motions, or seek rehearing. OPP also works with other FERC program offices to help FERC improve public access and create procedures that are inclusive, fair, and easy to navigate. This collaboration better ensures that the concerns of Tribal governments and communities, environmental justice communities, and other historically marginalized communities are fully and fairly considered in Commission proceedings.

FERC Term of the Week! “Cluster Study” Cluster study is an approach used by a grid operator, like an RTO, ISO, or the local transmission utility, that analyzes the grid impacts and costs of the interconnections of many projects in a batch or “cluster.” A cluster study approach differs from the previous “serial study” approach, where the grid operator studied interconnections one-at-a-time based on when the application was filed. #FERCFluency Federal Energy Regulatory Commission

Comments from the public are due today on the Petition for Expedited Rulemaking to Adopt Commercial Readiness and Withdrawal Penalty Rules for Tribal Energy Development Organizations (FERC Docket No. RM24-9-000). Comments must be received by 5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, November 18, 2024. Information on how to submit comments electronically may be found at https://lnkd.in/gXGbwvNa. This notice for public comments stems from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission receiving a request from the Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy (ATCE) to consider removing certain financial obligations in Order No. 2023 that ATCE sees as obstacles to Tribal clean energy development. ATCE asked FERC to review the financial requirements that Tribal Nations must meet to interconnect power plants to the electric grid, specifically with FERC’s commercial readiness deposit and withdrawal penalty framework in Order No. 2023. More information on the petition may be found at www.ferc.gov/ATCE-petition.
