“Most currently available pregnancy smartphone apps lack evidence-based information or expert involvement, [and] offer problematic features and inadequate advice, according to a review.” The researchers said the study “found that some apps were directly linked or at least affiliated with shops or manufacturers for nipple creams, bras and breastmilk substitutes; all apps lacked funding details transparency.”? More is not always better! Sharing another study that many #femtech companies are putting out products that are inaccurate. This puts patients in danger, damages the provider - patient relationship, and is a disservice. The way to fight this is by having medical providers involved early and often. Today we want to highlight PelvicSense. Founder Evelyn Hecht, PT is a very seasoned pelvic floor physical therapist (#PT) who shares what she's learned about managing #pain with her patients in sessions and online. Providers, she's willing to share the service in exchange for feedback and for real numbers she can use to drive her product. We have partners with an #FQHC to provide implicit bias training. In part of it, the participants have shared stores of their experiences. There are SO MANY where patients were turned away from even making appointments, discharged from ERs inappropriately, and just overall received very substandard care due to #languagebarrier. I'm thankful for this research, and at the same time, it's common sense. If we were in China and needed healthcare, it would mean the world to find someone who spoke English.
