Women supporting women never gets old—especially in the workplace, where collective success often relies on it. We spoke with Andrea Zapata, T-Mobile Advertising Solutions' VP of Advertising Data, Measurements, and Partnerships, who shared a powerful story of support: a female colleague who consistently advocated for her, even when Andrea wasn’t in the room. Moments like these leave a lasting impact, reminding us that even in environments that could be rife with competition, women still choose to support.

To change your name or keep your own? ?? It’s a deeply personal decision, and as Macy Mohr reminds us, 'Dig deep on what’s meaningful to you...or just wait. It’s OK—you don’t have to make any quick decisions just because you’re getting married; that’s not what it’s about.' While most brides in heterosexual relationships still choose to take their husband's last name, recent research from The FQ, surveying over 6,000 people, shows a growing trend: younger generations of women are increasingly choosing to keep their own names. Maintaining a consistent surname throughout one’s career is likely to become even more significant, as The Female Quotient CEO, Shelley Zalis, notes—"allowing women to build their professional identities with continuity." Ultimately, the choice is a powerful statement of who you are and how you want to be known in every part of your life. Read more in Fortune: https://lnkd.in/gd5ZTMvS

Health tech is popping up all around us these days, including “femtech” short for “female technology,” designed to address a wide range of female-specific healthcare issues. Great idea, right? Certainly! However, research is showing that if a woman is on the founding team of these companies, they’re less likely to receive funding. And their funding applications take hits by using terms like “women’s rights,” “advocacy,” "take control,” or “freedom”. On average, femtech companies founded by women receive 28% of venture capital funding, compared to 38% of the funding won by femtech companies founded entirely by men. Kirsten Connell, who leads a venture capital firm, put it this way: “Femtech might be for women, by women, but the funders are still largely men who don’t understand the scale of the problems femtech sets out to solve or the incredible financial returns on offer.” Gender bias in funding is holding women back from serving women on what they know best: women! The people granting the money still trust men to solve women’s problems better than women. And while it’s maddening, it’s not necessarily surprising.

We are thrilled to share that The Female Quotient is partnering with ATTN: to host our first ever Women in AI Summit on November 13 in NYC. Women hold just 26% of data and AI-centered jobs, with a significant gender gap at the executive level. This is a troubling statistic considering the rapid growth of artificial intelligence, its pervasiveness, and the threat of data bias. The solution lies in hiring, promoting and retaining women leaders, changing company culture, and especially in elevating women’s stories in order to inspire the next generation of women to enter the field. Join us for a half-day summit with ATTN:, hosted in collaboration with Microsoft Advertising, HP, Deloitte and Amazon Web Services (AWS), at the inaugural Women in AI Summit where we will bring together the brightest female minds in #AI, marketing and advertising. Come with an open mind and leave equipped to shape a more inclusive and dynamic future of AI. Together, we’ll ensure that women’s voices are not only heard, but amplified in the AI revolution. We’ll feature an impressive lineup of speakers: - Chelsea Clinton - Ashley Graham - Allie K. Miller - Dr. Joy Buolamwini - Minerva Tantoco - Reshma Saujani + more! The Women in AI Summit is the beginning of a larger movement to ensure that women are actively shaping the future of AI. We are committed to fostering innovation, bringing together the marketing and advertising community to explore the transformative role of AI. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gDcyxpAX
