#Trailblazers ? Pocahontas was so much more than the Disney princess many of us associate her with. She was a real-life heroine and Native American trailblazer who dared to bridge the gap between cultures in order to find common ground. While her life was short and somewhat of a mystery, the legacy she does leave reminds us of the importance of human connection and the power of leading with compassion, seeking understanding, and always pursuing peace. #NativeAmericanHeritageDay

“What if men had periods instead?” This is not a new musing—but it is one that even AI has analyzed. Gloria Steinem’s “If Men Could Menstruate” written in 1978 went through all these points, highlighting how different of a situation it would be if periods were assigned to men instead of women. They’d be a thing of power and transparency. There would be healthcare innovation and funding to learn more about them. They’d be absolutely normal without stigma. How do we take what we hear here and make it a reality for the 1.8 billion women who menstruate every month? ?? @mrcultdaddy

How, from an evolutionary perspective, do we as humans continue to pass along information? Well, according to Dr. Roy Casagrande, women, and more specifically, grandmothers, have evolved to no longer reproduce at a certain age but continue to live longer to educate younger generations. This phenomenon aligns with the “grandmother hypothesis,” a theory suggesting that female humans live far beyond their reproductive years to provide care for grandchildren and ensure the survival of their lineage. Beyond caregiving, grandmothers provide priceless wisdom and experience, transferring knowledge about survival, social structures, and cultural traditions. This extended post-reproductive lifespan has given human communities an evolutionary advantage by strengthening intergenerational bonds and facilitating the sharing of essential skills and stories. In a broader sense, it’s a testament to how humanity has developed unique mechanisms, rooted in relationships and education, to preserve and pass down collective knowledge, ensuring the continuity of culture and progress. Grandmothers, as the theory suggests, are at the heart of this ??

As Colleen Gorsky of SailGP explained, men and women compete with and against each other on some of the fastest, most high-tech boats in the world. This global championship brings together the best athletes to race F50 catamarans at speeds of over 60 mph—where precision, strategy, and teamwork are everything. Historically, sailing has been a male-dominated sport, but that’s changing. Trailblazers like U.S. Olympian Anna Weis are rising through the ranks, and Brazil's double Olympic champion Martine Grael has made history as the league’s first-ever woman driver. With initiatives like SailGP’s Women’s Pathway Program, we’re seeing more and more women breaking through. This is progress in action. Stay tuned for more from The FQ x SailGP as we are hosting a major gathering together in LA in March during the Los Angeles Sail Grand Prix 2025!

#Trailblazers ? Mary Golda Ross was the first Native American engineer in the U.S., a passionate educator and a fierce advocate for women and Native American people. Her work, some of it still classified, took place during some of the most pivotal moments of WWII and the Cold War. She once said, “To function efficiently in today’s world, you need math … a math background will let you go farther and faster.” There’s no question that she paved the way for women in STEM and her work continues to inspire the next generations of leaders in the *space*. ?? #NativeAmericanHeritageMonth

It all started at The Female Quotient’s #EqualityLounge at Cannes Lions, where Alba Hurup Larsen met Susie Wolff, Managing Director of Formula 1 Academy. Fast forward 5 months and she’s set to race for Tommy Hilfiger’s 2025 F1 Academy season at just 16 years old. Alba and F1 Academy partner, Tommy Hilfiger, announced the partnership in The FQ’s #EqualityLounge at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Alba’s journey is nothing short of inspiring. From first trying go-karting during COVID lockdowns to winning the FIA Girls on Track – Rising Stars program, she’s already making waves. She didn’t start racing competitively until she was 11 or 12. Most people begin when they’re around six or seven years old. Today she’s one of the youngest drivers in F1 Academy, and she’s proving that motorsport’s future is female. Alba shared, “Having this support at such a pivotal stage in my career means the world to me. I’m excited to represent the Tommy Hilfiger brand as we dream big, show what’s possible, and drive change.” With leaders like Susie Wolff and Tommy Hilfiger championing women in racing, that change is here to stay.
