Single mothers spend over half their income on housing expenses and 1/3 on childcare expenses, and these costs continue to rise. This leaves little money for car repairs, gas, doctor’s visits, groceries, clothes, and school activities. Trying to juggle these expenses independently, struggling single moms face impossible decisions (such as deciding between spending their last $100 on a necessary car repair OR buying groceries), and they often become prey to predatory lenders. ??Celebrating a Transformative Journey with Fellowship Housing ?? We are thrilled to celebrate Kim, a recent graduate, who has achieved incredible milestones during her Fellowship Housing journey: a new homeowner, debt-free after paying off $15K, $44K in savings, and an outstanding credit score of 807. "Fellowship Housing changed our lives in more ways than one. I’ve learned to accept help, find strength in guidance, and even rediscover faith. My kids and I gained a safe, affordable home, a place to thrive. Heather and Kylee (staff members) became more than mentors; they were a support system I never had. When they’d ask, 'How are you doing?' I could finally say, 'We’re doing great.' The power of that cannot be overstated." Alongside these achievements, she’s earned her bachelor’s degree, and, most importantly, found a renewed sense of self-worth. Her journey is a testament to the life-changing impact of community support, resilience, and hard work. Way to go Kim!

The holiday season is filled with joy and celebration, but it can also bring unique challenges for single moms juggling it all. Balancing holiday cheer with the demands of family, work, and finances often adds up, making this time of year extra stressful. This season let’s show support by lending a hand in meaningful ways. Here are three ways you can make a difference: Offer Practical Support ?? - Small gestures like offering to babysit, helping with errands, or cooking a meal can ease the load for a single mom with a full plate. Make an Invitation ?? - Invite a mom and her kids out for a free holiday outing, have them over for a cookie decorating night or your favorite holiday movie to make her season a little brighter. Encourage & Check In ?? - Simple texts, notes, or calls to ask, “How are you?” can go a long way. Reminding her she’s not alone helps more than you know. Let’s make sure no one feels alone this holiday season. A little love and kindness can mean the world. ??

Only 1/4 of single moms have completed a college degree, and 1/6 has not finished high school. Education gaps can leave single mothers having difficulty keeping jobs, being unaware of how to manage their money, and blaming themselves for struggling to provide for their families.
