National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week is all about breaking down myths and spreading the truth about substance use and recovery. Understanding the facts can help save lives and support those on the path to healing. Today, we want to start by highlighting some history and the rise of the 12-step model! ?? ?? In 1935, Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith founded Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in Akron, Ohio, introducing the 12-step model that has since helped millions worldwide achieve sobriety. Inspired by AA, Narcotics Anonymous (NA) was founded in 1953 to provide support for those struggling with drug addiction, proving that recovery communities and the 12-step model could work beyond alcohol. ?? #NDAFW #Wellness #HealingTogether #RecoverySupport #FellowshipHallNC
