Over 200 leaders in the flooring industry recently gathered to celebrate the 40th?Anniversary of the Floor Covering Industry Foundation at the Rainbow Room at the top of the Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. They honored the lifetime accomplishments of three industry leaders – Howard Brodsky, Jeanne Matson, and Dana Teague. They raised over $250,000 to support flooring industry workers battling catastrophic illnesses. And they danced the night away on one of the most iconic floors in the United States. Max Holland and his wife Tammy, Andy Hogan and his wife Amy, and our good pal Jay Kopelson were there for all of it.

Our keynote speaker Scott Mann has some news to share. His latest book, Nobody Is Coming to Save You, is out! It was six years in the making but at long last, his inspiring story about rooftop leadership is available now. We live in a time of Churn, he says, but we can still get big sh*t done, and this book will help you do it. Pick up a copy today and join the movement from the bottom up. Congratulations, sir! Just over a week ago, the Southeast states of Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina experienced unimaginable damage from hurricane Helene. In the wake of the storm, the devastation has only mounted, particularly in the hard-hit area of western North Carolina, where several towns where virtually wiped off the map and rescue has now turned to recovery. Intensive restoration efforts remain underway here in Georgia as well, where the most destructive hurricane in the state’s history has further strain on agricultural crops that were already suffering mightily. Not to mention the flooding. In the coming weeks, FEI members in the North Carolina area will be mobilizing alongside local businesses to help with cleanup efforts in Asheville and to help our neighbors there navigate this unprecedented crisis. In the meantime, there are several organizations committed to partnering with the victims to deliver supplies and medical aid directly to the victims where needed. These organizations have been vetted and we can confirm with certainty that they are trusted resources. Most importantly, they are already on the ground and doing the work. We continue to lift all the victims up in prayer and will keep you updated on additional efforts by our community to render aid in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. At least 36?major?ports around the United States effectively shut down at midnight as a major labor union went on strike. The International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) union, which represents around 45,000 port workers, says it will order a work stoppage as contract negotiations with the United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) employer group have completely?broken down?over demands for a pay increase and guarantees against job automation. https://lnkd.in/ePxg75j9

Congratulations to our pal Mo Bunnell, who hosted his own event just days after speaking at the FEI Group National Conference and whose latest book, Give to Grow, is now on book shelves nationwide. Give to Grow is a scientific study that brilliantly describes how investing in relationships will help you build your business and your career. All FEI conference attendees got a copy. You should, too.
Wow. Give to Grow Live was beyond incredible. It wasn’t just an event—it was an experience, a community, and an unforgettable opportunity to grow together. From the plenary sessions to the small group community-building lunches, we explored everything from strengthening relationships to boosting our businesses and careers. We laughed, learned, and leveled up together. The fireside chats with some of the top performers were truly inspiring. Hearing firsthand from these elite leaders across different industries was a game-changer. But what made this event extra special was the community we built. The connections, friendships, and strategic partnerships formed in those sessions are bonds that will last for years to come. This isn’t just about business, it's about growth, trust, and helping each other succeed. I’m so grateful to everyone who attended, participated, and made Give to Grow Live what it was. We’re leaving with more than just knowledge—we’re leaving with a community, and that is priceless. #GivetoGrowLive #GivetoGrow

ECA member Doug Bartlett recently spent a week in D.C. where he was honored to be invited to the Pentagon to receive the Employer Freedom Award from the Department of Defense. It’s the highest award that is given to businesses for supporting their guard and reserve employees as they fulfill their military obligations and continue to have a civilian career. At Bartlett Roofing, Doug and his team have been blessed with some amazing veteran employees and hope to employ more in the future.
