Inspire, educate, and connect future leaders with the economic, ethical, and legal principles of a free society.

关于我们

Founded in 1946, the Foundation for Economic Education is America's oldest "free enterprise" research and educational institute, headquartered first in Irvington, New York and now Atlanta, Georgia. Its missions is to inspire, educate, and connect future leaders with the economic, ethical, and legal principles of a free society. It focuses primarily on reaching people through seminars, publications, daily content, social media, and online lectures. A core component of the Foundation's message is the critical, indispensable connection between character, liberty, and a free economy. FEE is sustained entirely by the voluntary, tax deductible contributions of other foundations, individuals, and businesses who believe that character, liberty, and a free economy are worth supporting.

  • Big government often claims you must choose between liberty and security but history proves otherwise. In his latest piece for FEE, Ron Paul exposes how the TSA fails at real security while violating passengers’ rights. The market, not bureaucracy, holds the key to effective safety measures. • A recent WSJ piece claimed Marx did not advocate violence. But anyone who’s actually read The Communist Manifesto knows better. Marx openly called for the “forcible overthrow of all existing social conditions” and a “dictatorship of the proletariat.” His Ten Planks - abolishing private property, confiscating wealth, and state control - weren’t suggestions; they were commands. History proved him right - not in theory, but in blood. Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot didn’t misread Marx. They understood him perfectly. By Lawrence Reed https://lnkd.in/d4DtrVGt

  • 2025 marks the 25th anniversary of the most important public policy in Ecuador’s history: dollarization. This measure is so popular that almost 90% of Ecuadorians?support?the US dollar as their legal currency. They trust a stable currency that retains its value over time, and they no longer worry about Ecuadorian politicians eroding their purchasing power through inflation. ? • We’re excited to shine March's employee spotlight on María Amare, FEE’s Outreach Manager! Get to know María in and out of FEE by reading below! ??? What originally got you interested in free-market economics? I didn't learn about free market economics in a book, I've lived its absence. Being born and raised in Venezuela, I saw firsthand how government control destroyed prosperity and freedom, forcing people into survival mode. But even in the worst times, I realized something: people naturally found ways to trade, innovate and flourish despite the system that was holding them back. That's when I realized that free markets are not just a theory, but human nature. Free markets represent choice, dignity and the power to build a better future, which is exactly what I fight for wherever I am. What has been your favorite project while working at FEE? It's hard to choose just one, because all of the projects have been so meaningful! From leading workshops on the Colombia-Venezuela border, where I saw the power of hope and resilience for myself, to bringing economic education and the philosophy of freedom to hundreds of schools in the United States, each experience has been life-changing. Seeing minds open and futures brighten through the power of these ideas has been truly remarkable. Where has been your favorite travel destination? Undoubtedly the Grand Canyon. It is a magical place that makes you reflect on the immensity of everything around us. Simply a magical place to which I would return a thousand times. Who is your favorite economist/philosopher/thought leader? Ayn Rand Thank you for all that you do for FEE, María! ??

  • Despite their historical failures, price controls remain an attractive policy option for many. If we can control prices through legislation, the argument runs, goods and services will be more accessible. Mandating lower prices will simply reduce the markup over cost for businesses, leading to slimmer profit margins but greater benefits for consumers. This is faulty logic resting on a conflation of cause and consequence. High prices are a signal of the relative scarcity of a good, not the cause of the scarcity. Regulating prices will do nothing to make a good or service more abundant. Instead, it will cause shortages by simultaneously encouraging increased consumption and decreased supply. Price control debates in this country stretch back to the days of our founding. ?? Read the full essay: https://lnkd.in/dJquzmVX
