There's still time to donate food as part of the Uniting to Combat Hunger food drive! We've teamed up with Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and Humana for a food drive to support our veterans and active duty military families experiencing food insecurity. Can't make it to a VFW post? Donate to our virtual food drive: https://bit.ly/4cIJzAz Now through Veterans Day, you can drop off food donations to participating VFW posts and the VFW Foundation with Humana will donate $1 for every pound, up to $1,500 per post to the post. Thank a farmer today ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? ?? We want to thank all of the hardworking farmers and ranchers who plow, sow, grow, and harvest to feed our county. Only because of them do we have the bounty of nutritious food available to us. Did you know? Thanks to the USDA's Local Food Purchase Assistance Cooperative Agreement Program, Feeding San Diego is able to purchase food from farms across the county like SAGE MOUNTAIN FARM, Hukama Produce, Mountain Meadow Mushroom Farms, FoodShed Cooperative, and Dickinson Family Farms. Local farmers also donate produce to our organization to help feed neighbors if they are unable to sell it. Thank you, local farmers. And just like that, it's a wrap on the Del Mar Wine + Food Festival. We were so honored to be chosen as the event's charity beneficiary when it debuted last year, and this year we made the most of all the chances to engage with the public and raise funds to support our mission. We are so thankful to have been given this platform to raise awareness of our organization to such a large audience. As part of the fest, there were multiple fundraising events, from the Whispering Angel Celebrity Pickleball Tournament hosted by Drew Brees to the new Happy Fillmore Golf Challenge & Bash. Cash Dash for a Cause was a success! Did you step inside the cash machine at the Del Mar Wine + Food Festival this past weekend? If you did, it would not have been possible without our corporate partner Innovative Industrial Properties. Thanks to their generous sponsorship of $10,000, attendees of the Del Mar Wine + Food Festival's Grand Tasting events got to collect as much "cash" as they could in the machine and have it donated to Feeding San Diego. And if they caught a golden ticket, they got to pick a Feeding San Diego merch item. We visited one of our agency partners, the Sherman Heights Community Center, which has a long history of serving the residents of Sherman Heights and the nearby communities of Grant Hill, Logan Heights, Barrio Logan, San Ysidro, and other South Bay communities. Their mission is to foster community through education, cultural enrichment, health promotion, and personal development. We partner with them to host a food distribution for seniors and families.
