Celebrating Our Members! Feeding New York State is proud to highlight Danielle Vasquez, Manager of Food Recovery, and Kiyomi Bowen, Associate, Individual Giving, from Feeding Westchester for being selected for Nonprofit Westchester’s Emerging Leaders Program! With a competitive application process and a limit of just two staff members per nonprofit, Danielle and Kiyomi were specially recommended to take part. 关于我们
Established in 2004, Feeding New York State, then named Food Bank Association of New York State, was developed to provide advocacy and fundraising support to the NYS regional food banks. Rebranded in 2019 as Feeding New York State, we support the ten regional food banks across the state. We provide programs, services and connections for: Farmers & food processors: Through the Nourish New York initiative and Statewide Sourcing Program, farmers and food processors can help supply NY food banks and receive fair compensation for their efforts. Feeding New York State has staff dedicated to helping you take full advantage of these programs. Hunters: In partnership with the Venison Coalition, we help to connect deer hunters to registered meat processors to make donating venison easy and efficient. The venison from donated deer is processed and distributed to food pantries across the state. Helping with food resources: FNYS sources wholesome food items for our member food banks to use in their communities, we work with state and national vendors & donors to secure food and funds and we are a resource for individuals and families looking for food assistance.

Dressed For Success to Fight Food Waste & Protect Our Planet Feeding New York State’s Executive Director, Dan Egan, and Director of Food Recovery Programs, Jay Hawkins, suited up and stepped up for?@New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling (NYSAR3) Lobby Day, advocating for increased state funding for the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF). Why? Because this fund does more than support recycling and waste reduction - it also helps rescue food, fight hunger, and cut greenhouse gas emissions. Investing in the EPF means more food recovered, less waste in landfills, and a stronger, more sustainable New York. Let’s keep the momentum going! #FoodRescue #Sustainability #EPF #FeedingNY

Monday, March 3, 2025 Motivational Monday: Honoring a Trailblazer for Women's History Month Shirley Chisholm, known as Fighting Shirley, made history as the first African-American woman elected to Congress in 1968. But her impact didn’t stop there - she played a key role in the creation of the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program and used her seat on the House Agriculture Committee to expand food assistance programs nationwide. Her legacy is a reminder that fighting hunger is about more than food - it’s about justice, equity, and ensuring every community has access to the resources they need. This Women's History Month, we celebrate her relentless advocacy and the path she paved for future generations. #WomensHistoryMonth #FeedingNYS #MotivationalMonday #ShirleyChisholm #FoodForAll https://lnkd.in/eqzUm6ec

Motivational Monday: The Power of Community! Thanks to an incredible partnership with American Dairy Association Northeast and Massey's Furniture Barn, Feeding New York State is helping food pantries provide one of the most requested yet rarely donated items - milk! "Milk is the number one item asked for at food pantries but is very rarely donated," says Cathy Hobb. But with this generous support, 11 pantries and community programs across Jefferson County now have funding to purchase fresh milk for families in need. This is what community impact looks like - neighbors helping neighbors, ensuring everyone has access to nutritious dairy. Let’s celebrate this amazing accomplishment! #FeedingNYState #MilkMatters #DairyGoodness #EndHunger https://lnkd.in/gQQbyubv

"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." — Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. As we honor Black History Month, let's recognize the essential contributions of farmworkers who tirelessly bring food to our tables. Their labor is vital, yet they often face significant challenges. At Feeding New York State, we are committed to supporting these individuals and ensuring that justice and equity extend to every hand that feeds us. #BlackHistoryMonth #FarmworkerSupport #JusticeForAll
