Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland

Yesterday, the Feeding America, Kentucky's Heartland (FAKH) team came together for our annual staff holiday party! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate the season, and enjoy each other's company. From delicious food to lively conversations and an exciting round of Dirty Santa, the event was filled with laughter and the holiday spirit. Moments like these remind us how grateful we are to have such an incredible team dedicated to making a difference in the lives of so many Kentuckians. As we wrap up the year, we're thankful for the hard work and passion of our staff, volunteers, and supporters who make our mission possible. Here's to more memories, more impact, and an even brighter 2025! ??

Yesterday, our board gathered at Lampkin Park in Bowling Green to meet, serve, and make a difference! Before the board meeting, they rolled up their sleeves at our distribution event, sorting food, loading cars, and helping neighbors in need. A heartfelt thank you to our board members for their hands-on support in feeding families across Kentucky’s Heartland.

After a full morning of meetings, our team traded pallet jacks for putters! ? Thanks to the FAKH Employee Engagement Committee for planning a tee-rific afternoon of mini golf and team bonding. They really hit a hole-in-one with this one!

Thank you to Darden and Penske Truck Leasing for helping to expand our fleet, and making it easier to distribute nutritious food across our 16,000 square miles service area.

At FAKH, we believe that when employees are passionate about their work, it creates meaningful impact. Kevin Kimbel, one of our dedicated drivers, exemplifies this commitment. Yesterday, we had the honor of hosting our partners at Feeding Kentucky for an event to launch Hunger Action Month, rallying support to end hunger in the Commonwealth. At yesterday's event, special guests joined us to share their support - including Governor Andy Beshear and Eric Friedlander, Secretary of the Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services. After the event, attendees, including several of our board members and their families, volunteered to pack nearly 1,000 BackPack Program bags for kids across Kentucky’s Heartland, which will help to keep them full over weekends when they don't have school meals to depend on. Join us in taking action this September during Hunger Action Month as we work together to end hunger! #HungerActionMonth
