Food sovereignty is about more than access—it’s about self-determination, liberation, and reclaiming our power over the systems that feed us. In the U.S. alone, we produce enough food to feed the world 1.5 times over, yet corporate greed and systemic injustice leave Black and Brown communities without access to this abundance. But another world is being built—one where land is returned, where communities can grow and share food without barriers, and where no one is left hungry while resources are hoarded. Reconnecting with the land and reclaiming our food systems is not just necessary—it’s inevitable. Together, we are building a future where everyone has the power to grow, nourish, and shape their own future. #FoodSovereignty #BlackFutures #ReclaimOurPower #FoodJustice #FoodIsPower #CommunityUnity #Foodsovereignty

This #BlackHistoryMonth, we're continuing to celebrate efforts in the Bay Area that impact Black communities! For the next few days, we'll be spotlighting Bay Area Food Justice orgs that are helping to create sustainable food sources for the community. Today, we're highlighting Feed Black Futures . This Black, queer-led organization is committed to food justice, sovereignty, and healing within communities through a Just Transitions framework. They promote healing by strengthening Black food economies, creating networks for resilience, and addressing the historical harms caused by carceral violence and land dispossession. Through principles of abolition and collective governance, they aim to build community power to advance collective liberation. Feed Black Futures seeks to activate communities to reclaim their right to healthy, culturally relevant food, and to shape a future where everyone has access to food that sustains both body and spirit. Learn more and support their work: https://lnkd.in/gtfG26jR *We'd like to give a special thanks to jawno okhiulu and Angela McKee-Brown for their recent Food Justice panel, co-hosted by Haas Center For Public Service and the Stanford University Black Community Services Center, which touched on the work of Feed Black Futures and the other organizations that we'll be spotlighting over the next few days.

This Black History and Futures month I am thrilled to be personally fundraising to support the phenomenal work my dear friend and comrade Ali Anderson and the Feed Black Futures team leads to support incarcerated Black Mamas and amplify Black food sovereignty and food justice across our communities. I'll be sharing a few ways to join me in celebrating the work of Feed Black Futures throughout this month. Special thanks to Brett Christensen for being the first to donate! Together, especially with the leadership of phenomenal folks like Ali and the Feed Black Futures team, we can collectively resource ourselves into a better future where Black Mamas and our Mama Earth simultaneously heal from past harms, regenerate toward sovereign power, and ultimately flourish and thrive! With Feed Black Futures and their community partners leading the way toward a restorative, reparative, healing economy -- I believe that we will win! Tap in!

?? GROW FOOD NOT PRISONS ?? We are so grateful to have shared space with our comrades and inspirations from across the nation at Seeding Revolution, the 4th Annual?HEAL Food Alliance?Summit in New Mexico. Thank you to our family at HEAL for bringing us together to collectively strategize, learn from one another, and rest. A special thank you to Los Jardines Institute for inviting us to your land and RION M. & Jam Rose for capturing the moment! ? During the summit, our Co-ED, Ali Anderson, and Jalal Sabur of Sweet Freedom Farm were asked to facilitate a workshop which explored the critical intersection of black land sovereignty and prison abolition, exploring how systemic injustices perpetuate cycles of oppression within black communities. Thank you to everyone who made this event so meaningful. #LandSoverignty #PrisonAbolition #SystemicChange #EmpoweringCommunities #HealFoodSummit2024 #SeedingSovereignty
