Thank you to U.S. Customs and Border Protection for their recent donation that will provide 2,207 meals to our neighbors facing food insecurity! The team donated as a part of Feds Feed Families, a summer-long food and fund drive that sees employees from federal departments step up to fight Summer Hunger. So far, Feds Feed Families has donated 11,897,035 pounds to food banks across the nation! If you are interested in taking part in this event next year, please contact Jeremy Rodden at [email protected]

Women veteran step up to nourish their neighbors. The Women Veterans of the Ark-La-Tex, based in Shreveport, LA, gathered together to meet and collect canned goods for The Lighthouse Food Bank in (South) Bossier City as part of the Feds Feed Families Campaign 2024.? ? The WVALT is comprised of women from every branch of the military, and some are currently employed by the Dept of VA, the DoD, Department of the Air Force, USDA, and Social Security. The Food Drive was a success, and we gathered over 400 lbs. of food to donate.? ? The WVALT provide services and assistance to female veterans and local active-duty women in need. The group is very active in the community and has a huge heart for others. We have school supply drives for Barksdale AFB families, participate in veteran honorary services, placing flags at the cemetery and stepping up to aid any veteran in need.? ? The WVALT has over 100 members and has been supporting the community since 2017. ?? ?? #FedsFeedFamilies #WomenVeterans #Veterans ?

Weekly theme – Food Deserts and Food Security Our theme for Sept. 9 - 22 is Food Deserts and Food Security! Food security means access by all people at all times to enough food for an active, healthy life. Unfortunately, in 2020, more than 30 million Americans, or 1 in 10, experienced food insecurity. Achieving food security is challenged by food deserts, areas that lack access to safe and affordable fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other foods that support a healthy diet. Moreover, these food deserts may contribute to poor diets, obesity, and other diet-related diseases. Your donations through the Feds Feeding Families campaign helps increase access to nutritious, safe, and affordable food to those facing food insecurity and living in food deserts. Your efforts have a big impact! #FedsFeedFamilies
