#FLETCNeverForgets Senior Federal Air Marshal Kenneth R. Meisel, Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Federal Air Marshal Service (FAMS), who died in the line of duty on September 24, 2020, as the result of complications after contracting COVID-19 during a presumed exposure while on duty. Senior Federal Air Marshal Meisel was exposed to traveling public in airports and aircraft during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Senior Federal Air Marshal Meisel was a U.S. Army veteran and had served with the Federal Air Marshal Service for 18 years. The Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers’ Graduates Memorial honors FLETC basic training graduates such as Senior Federal Air Marshal Kenneth R. Meisel, who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our nation since FLETC’s inception in 1970. We remember. #DHS #FLETC #EndofWatch #LawEnforcement #TSA #FAMS

#ThrowbackThursday. On Sept. 5, 1968, the “Proposal for a Consolidated Federal Law Enforcement Training Center” was issued. Fifty-six years ago, a U.S. government task force of #LawEnforcement representatives and other federal organizations created a report recognizing 20 law enforcement agencies from seven different departments that could be trained at one location. On July 1, 1970, the Consolidated Federal Law Enforcement Training Center was established in Washington D.C. Five years later, it was relocated to Glynco, GA, and renamed the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. In 2016, Congress passed legislation that updated the word “Center” to “Centers.” This update reflected #FLETC’s four domestic training delivery points or Centers, its international presence, and its relationship with training partners which today totals 129 different agencies!
