The American dream of owning a home is becoming more out of reach for middle-income households squeezed by high interest rates and a high-cost housing market. For Native American communities that are already under-resourced when it comes to #AffordableHousing development, that dream can feel even more distant. Justina and her husband grew up on Native American reservations. Faced with ballooning rents in their Nevada hometown and the end of their lease, they had to figure out where to move with their four children. With the help of our $50,000 Middle-Income Downpayment Assistance Program grant, delivered in partnership with Greater Nevada Mortgage, Justina and her family were finally able to make their dream come true. Our Middle-Income matching grant program is just one of the ways we work with local lenders to advance #homeownership and economic opportunity among Tribal nations and Native American communities.
