As we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re excited to honor and recognize the vibrant cultures, histories, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities. Earlier this month, our Hispanic Heritage and Latinx employee resource group organized an exploration of the rich, cultural diversity in San Francisco’s Mission District, which has become a hub of Latinx life and community in the City. From touring the neighborhood’s murals, members of our team gained a deeper appreciation for the #art that makes this neighborhood so unique. Coming up in October, we’ll continue our recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting a special educational event with a panel discussion that will explore current events, pop culture, personal stories and more, shedding light on the experiences of the Hispanic community. Join us in honoring Hispanic Heritage Month and embracing the #diversity that makes us stronger! #HispanicHeritageMonth #DEandI #FHLBankSanFrancisco

FHLBank San Francisco was proud to be represented at the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation's #ALC53 in Washington, D.C.! Our CEO Alanna McCargo joined Courtney Johnson Rose - PhD, PMP, CCIM, M. CD, GRI (NAREB), Michael T. Pugh, (LISC), moderator John H. Jones ?(Nareit), with special remarks by U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's Director Rohit Chopra, on a panel addressing the systemic barriers to Black #homeownership. This powerful panel was hosted by Rep. Emanuel Cleaver II. We’re grateful to all who brought energy and passion to the conversations at ALC53. As proud partners of the National Housing Conference’s 3by30 initiative, we’re committed to empowering Black homeownership and closing the wealth gap. In 2023 we doubled our commitment to our Empowering Black Homeownership grant program, offering up to $4 million in matching grants, delivered through our members, to support HUD-approved housing counseling agencies. Empowering Black homeowners includes solving barriers in #housing, #lending, and more. By working together, we can make lasting change. We look forward to keeping this conversation going! #ALC53 #VisionToVictory #BlackHomeownership #EconomicOpportunity National Association of Real Estate Brokers Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC)

Thank you to our members, speakers and the attendees who made this year’s FHLBank San Francisco Member Conference an outstanding success??. Over three days we explored the “why” that drives our shared commitment to housing, building healthy local economies and a healthy financial sector, and collaborated on ways the Bank can remain an innovative contributor to positive community change. With a powerful keynote by our new CEO Alanna McCargo and presentations on #leadership, #cybersecurity, #AI, #AffordableHousing, and #community, plus plenty of networking, our members gained the latest insights. We all left with a new perspective on leadership, innovation and building inclusive economies, along with renewed purpose. We want to give a special thanks to our speakers, Alanna McCargo, Tiena Johnson Hall, John Brennan, Van Jones, Ruby B., Julie Uhrman, Mark Zandi, Ryan Donovan, Rebecca Foster, Dale Gibbons, Ethan Mollick and many others who shared their passion and purpose. ? Stay tuned for more takeaways and insights from our 2024 Member Conference!
With so many challenges and opportunities facing #FHLBanks, it is more important now than it has ever been for members to engage in advocacy in support of the System. Thank you to Alanna McCargo and Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco for inviting me to address FHLBank SF’s Member Symposium and issue a call to action to members. After all, if those most invested in the FHLBank System don’t speak for it, who will?

We are proud to have the highest CDFI utilization rate in the system. As Joe Neri points out in his Urban Institute article, there is more we can do to address #AffordableHousing and #CommunityDevelopment goals, and FHLBank San Francisco is exploring new solutions. ??Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago’s Community First Fund?is one example of ways the #FHLBanks can better enable Community Development Financial Institutions to offer more flexible loans and increase the support for affordable housing projects within local communities. We are committed to working with the Federal Housing Finance Agency to streamline and enhance support for #CDFIs, and increasing access to affordable housing loans in the communities we and our members serve.
Excited to hear that Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco is listening to its CDFI members and seriously discussing creating a Community First Fund-like program similar to those at Chicago and Dallas FHLBanks! The CDFI-FHLB Working Group, a coalition of 40 CDFI members of the FHLBank System asked ALL FHLBanks to create similar funds in each Bank. We are making some progress with Federal Home Loan Bank of New York, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta discussing joining Chicago and Dallas in answering CDFIs' call to get capital to disadvantaged communities in ways that don’t always directly produce collateral eligible for pledging. Question is where's the leadership from the other 6 FHLBanks? Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston; Federal Home Loan Bank of Pittsburgh; Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis (FHLBI); Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines; Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka and Federal Home Loan Bank of Cincinnati what are you all doing to meet the needs for Predevelopment or Construction Loans on LIHTC Projects? Or purchase-rehab loans in under-resourced communities? Or economic development micro-loans? Or housing development loans on Tribal lands? A CFF/CANOPY Fund is a tested tool for you to invest in CDFIs. Your communities are asking you to STEP UP! https://lnkd.in/gPHine-m

Last week we hosted an inspiring conversation featuring our CEO Alanna McCargo and Chief Strategy Officer Kelly Gear in honor of #WomensEqualityDay. Our team came together to hear insights that examined the progress women’s rights activists have made, at work and beyond, and acknowledged the ways we can continue to advocate for greater equality. Though the day has passed, the impact of these stories continues each day, as advancing equality is an ongoing effort and an essential part of our mission at FHLBank San Francisco. ??We want to give a big thanks to Women@FHLBSF, our incredible team who organized the event! #DEI #ProfessionalDevelopment #GenderEquality
