We had a productive week engaging with agencies and members of Congress in Washington, D.C., alongside the California Bankers Association, Arizona Bankers Association, and Nevada Bankers Association. Represented by SVP Jeremy Empol, Anabel Cuevas from our Public Affairs team, we discussed how FHLBank San Francisco serves as a reliable liquidity provider?and the critical role we play in supporting #AffordableHousing?and community investment. This joint summit was an opportunity to share the impact of our work and the importance of continued collaboration between financial institutions and policymakers to address the challenges our communities face. One of our 2023 AHEAD grant recipients, the Community Action Board of Santa Cruz County, received $100,000 delivered through our member Santa Cruz Community Credit Union, to provide #financialeducation and essential services to farmworker families in rural Santa Cruz County. The #grant supports job training, case management, and social services to those who need it most, creating pathways to new economic opportunity. On Saturday, Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco team members joined dozens of volunteers at the Ocean Beach Cleanup Day in San Francisco, organized by TogetherSF. Vince Yuen of Refuse Refuse SF kicked-off the morning by sharing alarming facts about how waste – including plastics – pollute the beaches, waterways, and ocean, eventually leaching into the ecosystem and into our food chain. Determined to make a difference for the #BayArea #environment, our team members gathered with family, friends, the Caltrans Clean California Initiative, and others to cleanup Ocean Beach.?Together, the #volunteers removed hundreds of pounds of litter from the surrounding area, including Golden Gate Park, the Outer Richmond District, and Ocean Beach neighborhoods in San Francisco, preventing trash from getting into the ocean. Way to go, team!

He reiterated that each of the 11 FHLBanks remain committed to providing innovative solutions that help more Americans achieve the role of homeownership. At our annual Member Conference earlier this month, community lending leaders in these states heard from an influential executive panel on pathways to tackling housing affordability. As we kick off Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re excited to honor and recognize the vibrant cultures, histories, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities. Earlier this month, our Hispanic Heritage and Latinx employee resource group organized an exploration of the rich, cultural diversity in San Francisco’s Mission District, which has become a hub of Latinx life and community in the City. From touring the neighborhood’s murals, members of our team gained a deeper appreciation for the #art that makes this neighborhood so unique. Coming up in October, we’ll continue our recognition of Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting a special educational event with a panel discussion that will explore current events, pop culture, personal stories and more, shedding light on the experiences of the Hispanic community.
