CORRECTION for the Nov. 6 posting: FHWA honors Dr. Verna Fowler who is an enrolled member of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin and a descendant of the Mohican Tribe of Wisconsin. Dr. Fowler was the founder and first president of the College of Menominee Nation. She also advocated for and ensured transportation access to educational opportunities.

This week, FHWA Acting Administrator Kristin White kicked off the “Saving Lives with Connectivity” Accelerator Grant Program. This initiative empowers states to accelerate the deployment of connected vehicle technologies, which help detect and avoid objects around vehicles to keep us safe. FHWA is committed to expanding the network of collaborators nationwide to drive this lifesaving technology forward.
