Special thanks to The Commercial Real Estate Group at GSU and our guests from Truist for last Tuesday’s event!
Last Tuesday, the Commercial Real Estate Group partnered with the The Finance Development Society to host an engaging panel featuring professionals from Truist, moderated by Tariq Collins. Our panelists shared their personal journeys into commercial real estate and finance, offering firsthand insights into the challenges they’ve faced, the strategies they’ve employed, and the growth they’ve experienced in their careers. The discussion covered a wide range of topics, from navigating the complexities of the industry to building a strong professional network. Our panelists provided advice on staying adaptable, leveraging opportunities, and maintaining resilience in the face of adversity. Their experiences shed light on the realities of the field, equipping attendees with knowledge to help them succeed. Following the rapid-fire panel, attendees had the opportunity to network, exchanging ideas and fostering connections with industry professionals and peers. The event provided attendees with new perspectives, valuable mentorship, and practical advice for their future careers in commercial real estate and finance. Thank you to Tariq Collins, Skyye De Catur, Chandler Boone, Phillip Brown, Corey Berry Jr., AJ Al-Bawab, Dimitria Doyle, JaCorey Holder, Sai Kalidindi and to all who attended for making this event an impactful experience. Our Stock Pitch Competition was a blend of strategy, teamwork, and quick decision-making. Students were placed into random teams, meeting new people and learning to work together under tight time constraints. They rose to the challenge, creating thoughtful and creative pitches to present to a panel of expert judges. Shoutout to Michael Ndoye, Isabel Mejia, Landon Meyer, Grace Abioro, and Adrien Nguyen for their insights! Congratulations to Team Starbucks: Dev Gajjar, Nicholas Edwards, Collin Doan, Kassidy Moore, and Muhammad Qasim, for clinching the top spot with an impressive pitch! Beyond the competition, every participant walked away with valuable experience and new skills. Here’s just a taste of what they gained: - How to analyze a company on the fly - Communicating big ideas under pressure - The art of collaboration with new teammates - Presenting with confidence and clarity - Taking constructive feedback like a pro It was a fun, fast-paced, and rewarding experience for everyone involved. Looking forward to the next one—great job, all!
